I have a tremendous privilege to be a photographer. Photography gives me an excuse to explore and travel as well as learn about others and myself. Through photography I am part of this world now and hopefully in the future. Through photography I learn what I like and what I don’t like. What I’m attracted to and not attracted to and where I fit in. As a photographer I learned how to see, how to observe and find moments and details that convey my vision and my passion. I am mindful that what I do can define me; however, this is not all I will ever be. – Vasiliy
I chose to exercise this privilege. I took my camera, (my viewfinder to the world) strobe light, battery pack and a notebook into my backpack and went to the Ukrainian Festival in Rochester, NY. I asked various performers and festival goes a simple question, “What is your wish for Ukraine?” They wrote down their answer and I took their photo.
